Rain Rain Go Away

You may have heard that we had a spot of rain here in California.

It was quite the event! It pretty much rained for a week straight, which threw a majority of Californians into a tizzy. I have to admit, it's pretty unnerving to drive on the freeway in the rain, considering how fast people drive here. Actually, it's not how fast they drive, but how closely they follow each other. Well, at any rate, my week wasn't spent on the freeway, thank goodness, and I rather enjoyed the rain. Bring it on, I say!

One of the last storms had the tiniest bit of hail, so of course that prompted a little hail throwing, the closest we'll ever get to snow around here!

 Two silly California boys!

Birthday Bubs

Every once in a while this happens. Birthday season burns me out. I want you to know that this birthday party happened in a timely fashion. I just haven't posted about it until now. In fact, there's a lot of stuff happening around here that I haven't posted about. Been a tad bit busy and a lot bit unmotivated. I think I've been slightly in denial about this whole move. Well, no denying it now--the sign went up today!

So, I thought about it long and hard (okay, about 1 minute) and I have decided to spend the next few days catching you up (and by "you" I primarily mean the grandmas and anybody else who wanders in) but I'm not going to go into a lot of detail.
Let us wander back in time to March 25, the day the boy turned 12. . . .
His big bro was in DC at the time and so was enjoying the party telephonically. (Did I just make up a new word?)
Twelve-year-olds can be extremely intense when it comes to birthday wishes!
I think the intensity paid off--here he is opening his dream come true--his very own ipod.

Another Round of Basketball

You can just thank your lucky stars that this is the last basketball post of the season. And aren't you glad that city league basketball is only 8 weeks long, as opposed to Pop Warner football, which lasts pretty much an eternity? Oh wait, I should say age group swimming lasts an eternity, because there is no off season in swimming. Those dang coaches want the kids in the pool every single day. It's enough to wear a mom out.
Speaking of Pop Warner, just when you thought it was over, it rears its head again. We got a little information in the mail today. Something about a Little Scholar we have living at our house. More about that later.

Okay, back to b-ball.

What we had was a close game in the first half. Then the opposing team decided (very wisely, for their own sakes) to press, and unfortunately, that did us in. Ball handling is not exactly our strength. Okay, well, neither is passing or shooting or rebounding for that matter, but hey, it's a developmental league and the kids are 6th graders, so we'll cut 'em a little slack...this time.

So, without any further ado, here are your Mustangs. Number 16 is our man.
